How will Module 9 benefit me?
This module will introduce you to complexities of teamwork. Delivery of effective inter-professional healthcare requires both competent individuals and competent teams. However, the relationship between competent individuals and competent teams requires a more sophisticated understanding. Individual and team analysis showed that the individual team members’ goals, understandings, values and routines are not linearly related to the team’s collective functioning. This understanding has led to the conclusion that effective teamwork requires not only training of individuals but also the entire team to work successfully together.
You will have the opportunity to explore your own experiences in healthcare and both the rewards and challenges of working within a team. We will discuss expectations within the North American medical context including resolving conflict.
